I provide outsourced on-site IT services for small businesses. One of the problems that I am facing is travel. My target market is rural. The county I am located in has a population of about 100,000 and is the size of Rhode Island.
With the increasing fuel costs, I'm starting to feel the pinch of trying to keep my rates the same while fighting off increasing costs.
So, I have instituted a trip charge for any customer located 20 miles or more from the center of the town that I operate from. So far no complaints. I also spend more time scheduling appointments so that I see all of my customers in one direction on the same day, etc.
I would like to know what other on-site support businesses are doing to reduce the effect of increasing fuel costs.
